Instrument Installation & Inspection
TechInspecta provides professional Instrument Installation & Calibration Inspection services to ensure that industrial instruments are correctly installed, accurately calibrated, safely commissioned, and fully aligned with project specifications, operational requirements, and applicable industry standards.
Our service covers field instruments such as pressure gauges, transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters, level instruments, control valves, switches, indicators, and other measurement and control devices used in industrial facilities, oil & gas plants, mining operations, manufacturing sites, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
We verify that each instrument is installed in the correct location, properly connected, mechanically secure, correctly tagged, protected from environmental exposure, and calibrated within acceptable tolerance limits. This helps ensure reliable process control, accurate monitoring, safe operation, and long-term equipment performance.
Scope of Inspection
TechInspecta’s Instrument Installation & Calibration Inspection may include:
- Review of instrument datasheets, P&IDs, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and installation details;
- Verification of instrument installation against approved drawings and project specifications;
- Inspection of instrument mounting, orientation, accessibility, labeling, and protection;
- Checking of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instrument installations;
- Verification of impulse lines, tubing, fittings, valves, manifolds, and process connections;
- Inspection of cable glands, junction boxes, marshalling cabinets, cable routing, and terminations;
- Checking of grounding, shielding, earthing, and electrical continuity where applicable;
- Verification of instrument tag numbers, nameplates, ranges, units, and service descriptions;
- Review of calibration certificates and calibration validity;
- Verification of as-found and as-left calibration results;
- Witnessing of calibration activities where required;
- Inspection of control valves, positioners, switches, transmitters, gauges, sensors, and indicators;
- Loop check support and functional verification;
- Identification and documentation of non-conformities;
- Recommendation of corrective and preventive actions;
- Preparation of detailed inspection reports with findings, observations, and photographic evidence.
Our Inspection Focus
Our inspection focuses on the most critical elements that affect instrument performance, safety, and reliability. These include:
Installation Quality
We verify that instruments are installed in the correct location, securely mounted, properly aligned, and suitable for the operating environment.
Calibration Accuracy
We confirm that instruments are calibrated within acceptable tolerance limits and that calibration records are complete, valid, and traceable.
Documentation Compliance
We review technical documents, inspection records, certificates, and test reports to ensure proper quality control and audit readiness.
Functional Reliability
We support loop checks and functional verification to ensure that instruments communicate correctly with control systems and respond properly to process conditions.
Safety and Operational Readiness
We help identify defects that may affect process safety, alarm reliability, shutdown systems, equipment protection, and plant start-up readiness
Our Approach and Solution
At TechInspecta, our approach combines technical inspection, documentation review, calibration verification, field compliance checks, and detailed reporting. We work closely with clients, contractors, commissioning teams, maintenance departments, and quality control teams to identify issues early and support safe project execution.
Our inspection process begins with a detailed review of the relevant technical documents. This may include instrument datasheets, P&IDs, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, installation details, cable schedules, calibration procedures, inspection and test plans, manufacturer manuals, project specifications, and applicable standards. This allows our inspectors to understand the design intent, operating requirements, instrument range, process conditions, installation method, and acceptance criteria before performing field verification.
During site inspection, we verify that instruments have been installed in accordance with approved drawings and technical requirements. We check instrument location, orientation, accessibility, tagging, mounting arrangement, support condition, tubing layout, cable routing, impulse line installation, process connection, environmental protection, earthing, termination quality, and overall installation workmanship.
For calibration inspection, we verify whether instruments have been calibrated using suitable and approved reference equipment. We review calibration certificates, calibration records, test results, as-found and as-left data, tolerance limits, calibration due dates, and traceability of test equipment. Where required, we also support or witness calibration activities, functional checks, loop checks, and commissioning verification to confirm that instruments are responding accurately and reliably.
Our solution helps clients detect and correct issues such as incorrect instrument range, wrong installation orientation, missing tags, poor cable termination, damaged tubing, improper grounding, outdated calibration certificates, excessive measurement error, incorrect signal output, and non-compliance with project requirements.
