Container integrity inspection is a systematic assessment of the condition of a freight, offshore, storage or specialised container.
Its purpose is to identify damage, deterioration or unauthorised alterations that may reduce the container’s ability to perform its intended function.
The inspector evaluates both structural and functional components. These normally include the corner posts, corner castings, side rails, end frames, floor cross-members, roof, wall panels, doors, locking systems and supporting welds.
The inspection also reviews the container’s plates and markings. These provide important information about the unit’s identity, rating, approved configuration and examination status.
